Warren Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) works with both property owners/landlords and participant families to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing for very low and low-income families. The program subsidizes a portion of each participant’s monthly rent based on family income. The subsidy is paid directly to the property owner/landlord.

Important Information

The Warren Housing Authority is closed to the public. All processes will be completed by mail, fax, email, telephone or by utilizing the secure document Drop Box located outside the main office. This Drop Box is available 24/7.  If you require assistance, please call the office to schedule an appointment.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM WILL NOT ACCEPT DIGITAL SUBMISSION OF ANY DOCUMENTATION. You must provide ALL FORMS AS ORIGINALS & COPIES OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION to this office via USPS mail or via the Document Drop-Box located in the Main Office vestibule.

Wait List

The Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List is open indefinitely through Rhode Island Housing Authority’s Centralized Waiting List. Applications must be completed and submitted electronically through the Centralized Wait List online application portal accessible at www.waitlist-centralri.com . Rhode Island Housing’s electronic application portal is the sole method of submitting an application for Warren Housing Authority’s HCVP. Applications that are mailed, faxed, emailed or hand delivered will not be processed. Applicants requiring assistance completing an application may contact Rhode Island Housing Authority at 844-459-3600 or via email at waitlist@rihousing.com. To request a reasonable accommodation in order to complete an application, please call 401-457-1288. Applicants may also contact Rhode Island Housing via TTY at 401-450-1394. Please be aware that WHA conducts a national criminal screening search for each person in the household 18 years of age or older.

Warren Housing Authority offers the following Waitlist Preferences:

–               Warren Resident: 20 Points
–               Employed in Warren: 20 Points
–               Veteran: 10 Points (DD-214 must be provided to receive preference).
–               Rhode Island Resident 10 Points

Please note: “You will receive two email updates yearly from Rhode Island Housing in regard to saving your spot on the waiting lists. They will come from CDR.Yardi. Please read the emails carefully and follow all instructions to save your spot. If you do not save your spot, you will be removed from the waiting lists.”

2024 Income Limits

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sets income limits that determine eligibility for assisted housing programs including the Public Housing, Section 8 project-based, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Section 202 housing for the elderly, and Section 811 housing for persons with disabilities programs.
